Abstract:
Membrane bioreactor (MBR) processes are affected by a number of parameters such as membrane fouling, hydrodynamic conditions and membrane module design. While the fouling propensity is linked to both biological characteristics of the activated sludge and characteristics of the membrane, hydraulic conditions and the module design are influencing the formation and removal of the layer of deposited matter (i.e. the cake layer). Therefore, efforts have been made within EUROMBRA WP 2
