Analyse der Fermenation zu Itaconsäure mit Hilfe von metabolischen Netzwerken
Abstract:
Because of a rising energy demand, increasing carbon dioxide emissions and a
limited availability of fossil resources renewable raw materials are becoming more
and more interesting. The project “Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass” (TMFB) at
RWTH Aachen University takes an approach to research on new synthetic fuels
based on biomass. One of the most important platform chemicals from renewable
raw materials is itaconic acid. Itaconic acid is usually produced via fermentation by
fungi.
The aim of this study is to present a metabolic model for the fermentative production
of itaconic acid based on literature and experimental data. The first step of the study
is to reconstruct a metabolic network for the production of itaconic acid by fungi.
Metabolic networks can be constructed and analyzed using Flux Balance Analysis
(FBA) in GAMS (General Algebraic Modeling System). The results of the model are
compared with the literature and experimental data.
