POLYDISPERSITY EFFECTS IN THE SYSTEM POLY(ETHYLENE GLYCOL) PLUS DEXTRAN PLUS WATER

J. Chem. Eng. Data, 1993, 38(2), 207 - 210

Abstract:
Tie lines in the system poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) + dextran + water have been measured at 20-degrees-C. The apparent polydispersity of PEG was varied by mixing two essentially monodisperse PEG fractions in different ratios. The overall phase composition for a given tie line was changed to obtain phase ratios different from unity. The concentrations and molecular-weight distributions of all polymers in the coexisting liquid phases were determined using size-exclusion chromatography (SEC). The results are compared to those of systems containing monodisperse PEG with different molecular weights.
