PRO-ART/CE - An environment for managing the evolution of chemical process simulation models

In: P. Geril (Eds.): 10th European Simulation Multiconference, Budapest, Hungary, 2-6.1996, 1012-1017

Abstract:
The lack of adequate support for the development of mathematical process models confines the application of model-based techniques in the design and operation of complex chemical plants. Enabling traceability of models - i.e. the detailed documentation of the process of model development (modeling process) which leads to the model including its modeling decisions and their rationales - provides a solution for overcoming the inherent modeling bottleneck. In our contribution we use a small case study to identify the information to be recorded for enabling traceability. We then present our PRO-ART/CE environment which supports the automated capture and retrieval of this information and therefore significantly facilitates the development of chemical process simulation models.
