A Data Model for Design Data in Chemical Engineering - Information Models

Internal Report

Abstract:
A conceptual data model is presented covering product and process data of the design of chemical processes. Besides modeling concepts describing the chemical process itself and its realization in a plant, data models for mathematical models are given. These mathematical models are used during process design to describe and predict the behavior of process and plant. Also, concepts for describing activities that are performed during the design of a chemical process and its operation are introduced. Documents that are used within the activities are carriers of information about the designed process are also modeled explicitly within the presented data model. The modeling concepts describing the products are integrated with the activity modeling concepts. The data model is primarily intended for the analysis of chemical process design in order to get a better understanding of the design process by describing the performed activities, its products, and their interdependencies.
