Robert Grosch, Martin Mönnigmann, Wolfgang Marquardt:
Integrated robust optimal design and control of an MSMPR crystallization process
AIChE Annual Meeting 2003, San Francisco, USA
Abstract:
A recent approach [7],
[8],
[9],
that guarantees a user-specified dynamic behavior of the design is adopted
to the integrated design and control of an MSMPR crystallization process.
In the approach an optimization problem is formulated which includes constraints
that separate the regions of desirable process behavior from regions of
undesirable process behavior. These constraints are rigorously derived
on the basis of nonlinear dynamics theory. By means of a case study not
only an economically optimum operating point, but also a controller tuning
that guaranties a specified performance of the closed-loop crystallization
process is found in the face of parametric uncertainties. The results
demonstrate that the formulation of an integrated optimal design and control
problem with the adopted approach is promising for the underlying process
model.
