Simulation Studies of a Polyamide6 Process
The design of a Polyamide6 process via stationary simulation is described. The main motivation was to analyze design processes in chemical engineering. This work is part of the collaborative research project IMPROVE which aims at supporting chemical engineering design processes. In this paper we are focusing on the layout of the reactor section. Different reactor types, reaction structures and operating conditions were investigated to find the configuration which fulfills the requirements concerning molecular weight and production rate.
