Nonlinearity measures for chemical reactors

IFAC Symposium DYCOPS-5, Corfu, Greece, 8-10.6.1998, 141-150

Abstract:
Analysis of chemical reactors by means of nonlinearity measures is treated both for continuous and batch operation. Recent advances in operating point dependent analysis applying the nonlinearity measure definition of Allgower (1996) are summarized. Different computational approaches are compared in an open loop nonlinearity assessment for two operating points of a benchmark CSTR. An extension of the approach to analyze the dynamic characteristics of batch reactors is discussed. A trajectory dependent nonlinearity measure definition is proposed and illustrated with a simple batch reactor example.
