INNOWATECH - Innovative and Integrated Technologies for the Treatment of Industrial Wastewater

The removal of phenol from water has hitherto not been solved satisfactorily. As a solution to this problem we are examining the reactive extraction of phenol in a membrane contactor. The solvent is an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide.

One of the major goals of this project is the development of membranes, which incorporate good transfer properties for phenol with long-term stability in a high-pH surrounding. Further, module concepts for the full-scale treatment of industrial waste waters are to be developed.
