Direct visual observation  of membrane fouling  on microfiltration membranes 

 

The aim of this project is to visually analyze the particle deposition and aggregation phenomena, which take place in the liquid-solid interface during microfiltration processes, leading to concentration polarization and subsequent membrane fouling. Particle trajectories and velocity profiles will be determined. Furthermore, cleaning processes (air sparging, backwashing) will be further observed and researched.
