Election of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marquardt in the National Academy of Engineering
The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has elected 87 new national members and 18 international members on February 6th 2020. Among them is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Marquardt, chairman of Forschungszentrum Jülich, coordinator of the research area “key technologies” and former professor of process systems engineering at RWTH Aachen.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marquardt was honoured for his work in process systems engineering, large-scale computations as well as his national leadership in science/technology policy and management.
Membership is granted for those who have made outstanding contributions in areas of engineering research, practice or education. Also, pioneering in new and developing fields of technology, significant contributions to traditional fields of engineering and innovative approaches to engineering education are acknowledged.
Thus, membership in the NAE is one of the highest distinction among engineers.
