Digital University course on membrane processes in Aachen 2020
HSK 2020
Membrane processes are characterized in many areas of technology by reliability and economy. The continuous development of membranes, new module designs and the optimization of processes with regard to energy consumption and availability are constantly opening up new markets for membrane technology.
Accroding to the currently high corona infection rates, this year's Aachen University course on membrane processes was realized in digital form for the first time. Scientists and industry met in digital format from November 24 to 26, and informed themselves about the basics and the latest developments in membrane technology in a program of lectures, tutorials and a digital lab tour.
During three intensive days, theoretical and practical knowledge about membrane processes in different areas was imparted. Among the speakers were Prof. Matthias Wessling and a group of PhD students (Ilka Rose, M.Sc., Stephan Emonds M.Sc., Christian Linnartz, M.Sc., Niklas Köller, M.Sc, Georg Linz, M.Sc., Matthias Heßelmann, M.Sc. and Jens Rubner, M.Sc.). Current established technologies such as micro-, ultra- and nanofiltration (MF, UF & NF), reverse osmosis (RO), electrodialysis, gas permeation & pervaporation as well as the application of membranes in bioprocess engineering were discussed.
We thank all 33 participants and the speakers for their active contribution and look forward to the next course in 2022.
