As of March 1, 2023, Dr.-Ing. Andreas Peschel will start as Director of Process and Plant Engineering for Chemical Hydrogen Storage (INW-4) at the Institute for Sustainable Hydrogen Economy (INW) of Forschungszentrum Jülich. With his future appointment, Andreas Peschel simultaneously assumes a W3 professorship at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of RWTH Aachen University for the Department of Process and Plant Engineering for Chemical Hydrogen Storage (Jülich Model). Further, he becomes a member of the Aachen Process Engineering chair consortium.

The INW forms the core of the Helmholtz Cluster for Sustainable and Infrastructure-Compatible Hydrogen Economy (HC-H2). The aim of the restructuring project is to develop the Rhenish mining area into a hydrogen model region with global visibility. This should create new jobs in the climate-neutral energy industry of the future. Peschel will work on both basic research and the commercialization of various chemical storage methods for hydrogen. "I am very excited to build such an interface in such an important process as the structural change in the Rhenish coalfield," says Andreas Peschel.

Our new professor studied mechanical and process engineering at RWTH Aachen University, then moved to the Max Planck Institute for the Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg and earned his doctorate at Otto von Guericke University there. After completing his doctorate, he joined Linde in 2012, where he has headed the Chemical Technology R&D department since the beginning of 2020.

We warmly welcome Andreas Peschel to AVT and wish him a great start in Jülich!
