Ausbildung an der AVT

Mathematical-Technical Software Developer (MATSE)

AVT has been successfully training MATSE for more than 14 years.

The mathematical-technical software developers (MATSE) can help solve problems in a variety of different projects. The broad-based research provides exciting projects, accompanying the studies at the FH Jülich in the subject "Applied Mathematics and Computer Science".

The acquisition of measured values can be a challenge, but so can the mathematical preparation of measured data and the database-supported data management of organisational processes. We are broadly positioned, we give an insight into various programming languages and processes and offer the trainee the opportunity to discover his own focal points.

At the beginning, the content learned in the lectures is consolidated in small projects. Depending on the progress, it will soon be possible to participate in the research projects. In addition to the project supervisors, two experienced trainers are available to provide support.

Ideally, the training ends with two degrees. The training degree before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the bachelor's degree in "Applied Mathematics and Computer Science". As a rule, we provide a topic from the area of AVT for the Bachelor's thesis.

The job prospects are excellent for the graduates. Especially in the region, the MATSE are in great demand due to the high practical part of their training. In addition, it is of course possible to attend a Master's degree course afterwards.

IT specialist specialising in system integration

The IT specialists specialising in system integration, FiSi for short, help with the provision and maintenance of the more than 500 computers and 60 servers of AVT. The support of 180 employees and about 400 students is not possible without the use of modern tools such as a central ticket system or the central management of Windows and Linux systems. The great challenge of this diverse education is to always be up to date, to offer security and to keep up with technology.

Management Assistant for Office Management and Management Assistant for Office Management

Since 2014, AVT has been training the office management clerk.

The office management clerk can be employed in several different areas, so that there are always challenging and interesting tasks accompanied by the in-house company school of the BAZ. Their activities consist of organisational and commercial-administrative tasks as well as assistant and secretarial activities.

AVT consists of five chairs. This gives the trainees the opportunity to gain insights into various subject areas. From the application phase through to project completion and administrative support in hiring staff, trainees can broaden their knowledge and master challenges.

A broad range of tasks enables an exciting daily training.

As a business administrator, you can work in the administrative departments of companies in all sectors of the economy as well as in the public sector.

AVT is young, dynamic and future-oriented and you can be a part of this team. Further information about the application process can be found here on the online portal of RWTH Aachen University.

Testimonial

I particularly like the training at SVT because I have learned in these three years to face and master challenges responsibly and independently. I have noticed how much I have grown and how much I am capable of. My tasks include invoice processing, hiring students and working on projects. This gives me a lot of freedom to work and decide independently, which in my opinion is very important and essential for my future career.
In addition, the atmosphere among colleagues is very pleasant. I feel in good hands and do not feel like an apprentice, but really part of the team.

Industrial mechanics Application area precision tool construction

AVT operates its own mechanical workshop in its NGP² building, where prototypes for research are produced in-house, but also for industrial partners. There they also train as industrial mechanics in the field of precision engineering. The industrial mechanics manufacture the mechanical workpieces for the research facilities, assemble assemblies, devices or apparatuses in cooperation with the leading engineers. A modern machine park with computer-controlled machine tools such as milling machines and lathes is available for this purpose. The machine park also includes conventional machine tools such as turning, drilling, milling and woodworking machines.

You will learn to read construction drawings, sketches and perspective presentations, to make them yourself and to work according to them. You will also get to know various materials, their properties and their possible applications in research. Joining techniques such as welding, soldering and gluing are used here. In order to do justice to the new technologies, they learn basic skills and knowledge in the field of control engineering. These are taught inter-company in the areas of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic control and regulation technology at the Berufsausbildungszentrum für Mechanik (BAZ) of the RWTH Aachen as a further training focus.

Due to the uniqueness of most test apparatuses, training is usually carried out on a one-off basis. Some of the school-based training takes place two days a week at theMies-van-der-Rohe-Schule, Berufskolleg für Technik der Stadt Aachen,, Neuköllnerstraße 17, 52068 Aachen. The industrial mechanics take their final examination before the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce and will then be able to apply almost anywhere in industrial and craft enterprises thanks to their extensive training.

Chemical laboratory assistant

Since 2020, we have again been training chemical laboratory assistants at the Institute of Chemical Process Engineering. The training as a chemical laboratory assistant is a dual training, which means that the training takes place at our institute and at the vocational school.

During the training at the institute, the trainees are integrated into the daily laboratory routine and support research work, industrial projects and doctoral theses according to their level of training.

Examination-relevant activities that cannot be taught at the institute are offered by the RWTH Chemistry Vocational Training Centre as inter-institute practical courses.
