Various research and industrial processes require precise knowledge of flowing characteristics of employed materials. Besides viscosity as the most commonly known rheological parameter, time dependencies such as thixotropy or rheopexy or yield stress and shear stress dependencies such as shear thinning or dilatant can be crucial, when it comes to plant engineering or product development or optimization.

The Aachener Verfahrenstechnik of RWTH Aachen University researches and develops in the field of rheology for over 40 years. Its expertise and laboratories are available through the following services:

  • Analysis and characterization of complex rheological fluids
    • Rotational and oscillation measurements with the MCR 501 and MCR 102 Rheometer (Anton Paar)
      • Standard measuring system: Plate-Plate, Cone-Plate, concentric cylinder, Double gap
      • Measuring temperature: - 40 °C < T < 200 °C
    • Microviscosimeter based on rolling ball “Lovis 2000 ME” inserted into density meter DMA 4100 M
      • Measuring the dynamic, kinematic, relative and intrinsic viscosity of liquids
      • Measuring temperature: 5 °C < T < 100 °C
  • Interpretation of rheological properties
