Modeling and simulation of membrane processes

 

The chair of chemical engineering (AVT.CVT) at the RWTH Aachen University has a broad knowledge in the field of membrane science.

The modeling, simulation und optimization of membrane based processes focus on the following areas:

• Modeling of membrane modules in Aspen Custom Modeler® (ACM)

• Process simulation in Aspen Plus®

• Techno-economic analysis model-based process optimization

• Membrane module-routines for simulation in Aspen Plus® (gas permeation, pervaporation and reverse osmosis)

By using Aspen Custom Modeler, tailor-made models for a wide variety of membrane processes were developed. These models can be imported into the simulation software Aspen Plus® allowing for process simulation including numerous unit operations and detailed process analysis.
