The competences of Process Operations Group at AVT.SVT cover predominantly optimal process operation strategies and optimal control strategies of chemical and energy processes.

Our research focuses on optimal operation and control in the process design phase, as well as improvement of existing processes. Further research is concerned with theoretical foundations and development of algorithms, with particular focus on deterministic global optimization and nested programming.

Further research is concerned with theoretical foundations and development of algorithms, with particular focus on deterministic global optimization and hierarchical programming.

Applications range from semi-batch or continuous polymerization processes to organic-Rankine cycles for waste-heat-recovery in diesel engines.

Our group is further extending and developing software for optimization and control, taken over from AVT.PT. DyOS is a software tool for the solution of dynamic optimization problems and the OptoEcon-Toolbox is a software environment for the simulation and control of chemical and energy processes.
