The process of co-cultivation offers a variety of benefits for industrial biotechnology. However, control of cell growth or defined bioprocesses within synthetic consortia are limited due to inadequate monitoring and control devices. For this reason, the project SynCom aims to develop a model co-cultivation platform for synthetic microbial consortia that will give detailed information about the individual growth performances of the biotechnologically relevant bacterium P. putida in co-culture via online monitoring.
