|Lecture notes:||Available on Moodle|
|Exam:||Oral or written exam|
Through successful participation in the module course, students acquire extensive and interdisciplinary knowledge for the design of products and processes in biomedicine. They will be familiar with the regulations and requirements for medical products and gain knowledge and understanding in the area of flow behavior and mass transport in biological systems as well as in artificial systems for medical applications. Knowledge in the field of material properties, biocompatibility and surface as well as interface phenomena is imparted and its relevance is illustrated by application examples, such as artificial organ replacement (tissue engineering). In addition, students are familiar with the current state of research and know the opportunities and challenges for both novel medical products, such as controlled drug delivery, and manufacturing processes, such as 3D printing for biomaterials.
