In 2007 the 5 chemical engineering chairs of RWTH Aachen decided to combine as AVT (Aachener VerfahrensTechnik, which means: Aachen Chemical Engineering). Today the AVT consist of 8 institutes with approximately 200 scientific and technical, administrative employees.

AVT-Aachener Verfahrenstechnik

The history of the Aachener Verfahrenstechnik dates back to 1952 when the “Forschungsinstitut Verfahrenstechnik” was founded. In October 2007, the at that time five professors Büchs, Marquardt, Melin, Modigell, and Pfennig initiated the association of activities to Aachener Verfahrenstechnik – AVT, in terms of administrative organization and research strategy...

Job openings

Currently, 100 academic researchers are working on their Ph.D. projects. During their three to five years at AVT they work on several research projects. Most projects are interdisciplinary and based on close collaboration with other university research groups and industrial partners.
