This lecture will introduce the students to typical methods in downstream processing for proteins and other biotechnological products. Starting with cell disruption, further unit operations of an industrail process such as filtration, expanded bed adsorption and different chromatography methods are presented. Afterwards, the downstream strategies for monoclonal antibodies and plasmide DNA are analyzed in detail. After this lecture, students should be able to suggest and justify a suitable downstream process for a given protein in a given production system.
