To tailor membrane behavior we transfer membrane systems to microfluidics. We use 3D-printing and microfluidics to form our tailored structure. This controlled environment allows us to investigate mass transport inside membranes. Visual observation under the microscope as well as electrochemical measurement techniques are used for mass transport evaluation. We then transfer the gained knowledge to real membrane systems and compare the results to microfluidic membrane behaviour. Main topics in this work will be

  • CAD-construction and 3D-printing of microscopic membrane-modules
  • Microfluidic membrane investigating experiments under the microscope
  • Membrane performance test in lab scale
Students should bring
